Warnings

The warnings Rischio can raise on a pile or a pile group: what each one means and its level, for information or caution.

  • Critical depth applied (for information). The pile is longer than zc=15Dz_c = 15D and crosses at least one drained stratum: below zcz_c, the effective stress along the shaft was held at its value at zcz_c.
  • Block failure governs (caution). η≤1\eta \le 1: the group as a block carries less than its piles on their own, so the block sets QgQ_g. A wider spacing enlarges the block.
  • Toe near another stratum (caution). The toe is closer than 10D10D to another stratum, above or below it: the toe resistance is computed with its own stratum alone, and the other one may change it (Meyerhof).
  • Unusual friction angle (caution). A stratum has ϕ′\phi' above 45°: possible in rock fill, rare in soil, often a typing error. The calculation still runs, and at the toe Nq∗N_q^{\ast} stays at its 45° value.
